Overview

 

A three day / two night trip to New Zealand’s Wild West Coast swimming in amazing dark, clear and clean New Zealand lakes. Next dates are 01 – 03 March 2019. 

What’s included…
Accommodation in lovely units in Hokitika for Friday and Saturday nights. The shared room price means two beds in a room. The own room price means own bedroom within a shared unit.

The package also includes all boat and swim safety coverage, swim guides, post swim snacks.

Itinerary

Day 1

Friday.We normally meet for lunch and the pre trip brief at Arthurs Pass followed by an acclimatisation swim. Location of this is dependant on weather. All swimmers should plan on arriving in Hokitika by 3pm.

Day 2

Saturday. Starts with a Lake swim
Lunch at the Theatre Royal Hotel, Kumara.
In the afternoon we have a fun pool swim including some coaching and the RealSwim ‘world champs’ at the iconic Hokitika pool follwed by a drink at the local wine bar and pizza dinner at Fat Pippis

Day 3

Sunday. Our Sunday swim may be a Lake swim in Lake Kanierie or Lake Brunner. this is dependant on weather, group size and ability . We finish with a final lunch and goodbye

FAQ

What is the water temperatures of the lakes? As with any open water swimming the temperature is variable but it’s not unreasonable to expect water temps from 17 to 21C for the lake in March.

Are there sandflies? Yup! They say New Zealand would be perfect … if it weren’t for the sandflies! Bring repellant. There are often conditions we’re they aren’t around… such as in the water.

What is the driving time from Christchurch? Three hours.
